Nature heals, the doctor nurses.
— Paracelsus

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

It is a gentle yet powerful hands-on therapy that supports the body’s natural tendency to find health and optimum balance. In health, all living tissues express a subtle rhythmic involuntary motion (Primary Respiration), whose full and balanced expression is fundamental to good health.

Factors such as accidents, injuries, stress, toxicity or unresolved emotional strain may affect the expression of Primary Respiration in the body. When this subtle motion gets compromised it can lead to a wide range of health problems.

During the treatment I identify any areas of stress or strain and encourage a restoration of the possibility for motion and space within the body tissues, resulting in a return to health.

Treatment may involve a step by step process in which layers of stress or trauma are resolved, thus allowing more and more of our natural health to shine through.

“The eye of the hurricane carries the potency for the whole storm.

The eye of the hurricane carries the pattern for the whole storm.

Any change in the eye automatically changes the spiralling effects of the winds, and thus the pattern of the storm.”

— Rollin E. Becker

At the first session there will be a detailed and sensitive discussion of your history and your reasons for seeking craniosacral therapy.

During a treatment session you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table, usually in a supine position (face up). I will make light contact with your body through my hands, tuning into the network of the interrelated body systems: musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, fascia.

One the main findings at the core of craniosacral therapy is the recognition that the body functions as a whole, unified system. For this reason I may focus on areas that may not be those where your symptoms are presenting; this is because I may sense that treating one area is a prerequisite to resolving tension or strain elsewhere.

You may feel a deep sense of relaxation, heat discharge, tingling, pulsations, or other sensations. It is not uncommon to feel very rested and energised at the end of a session, often with a new vitality and a more empowered sense of self.

What happens in a session?

“What is now proved was once only imagined.”

— William Blake

How many sessions will I need?

There are no set number of sessions. Sometimes patients report relief from their symptoms after one or two treatments. For long-standing problems or chronic conditions more sessions may be needed, and I may recommend weekly or fortnightly treatments over a longer period, the course of which would be reviewed regularly between us.

My story

For many years my career revolved around music.  I am a recording as well as a touring musician (piano/keyboards).  I am fortunate to have experienced many years of playing alongside talented musicians, travelling the world and playing at iconic venues.  Alongside the performances I also taught music at schools to primary school children which was incredibly fulfilling.

During this time, I discovered craniosacral therapy through a recommendation from a friend.  I started having regular sessions that helped facilitate a deep process of self-discovery.  One of the many benefits unearthed was learning to see my unique personality traits as valuable assets rather than impediments.  This process of healing and transformation led to me realise a call to help others to find their strength to overcome their struggles and learn how to tap into their own resources and therefore promote healthy change.

The gift of sensitivity, perception to subtle nuances and interchange have always been present within my musical world.  I have now enhanced these skills to the biodynamic world of craniosacral therapy.  I use this aptitude together with my empathetic nature to work as a therapist and influence people’s lives more directly.

My Credentials

Diploma in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy:

This is my core craniosacral training -  over 2 years and 11x 4-5day Seminars at a world leading school CTET (www.cranio.co.uk). The diploma consists of over 700 hours of training in London, home study, reading, anatomical drawing, close tutor supervision and working in the school's London clinic in Islington.

The training provides a good balance of theory and practice, with much classroom time dedicated for practical session work. An emphasis is placed on the development of palpatory, perceptual and treatment skills which the student can integrate in a developing process. The learning and integration of skills is based on the student’s own explorations and experience of the work, which is comprehensively supported by supervision and feedback from tutors. Clinical experience is gained during the latter stages of the training at the Trust’s unique teaching clinic in London.

Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology

CPD Course: Working with Pregnancy, Mothers and Babies

This is a 3 day post-grad course that I took, covering all key aspects of working with Pregnancy, Mothers and Babies. Working with Embryonic, Placental and Maternal fields, it is a practical hands-on course run by Ian Wright and Mary Bolinbroke.
